While putting together my list of the best SCPs, I came across the occasional neutralized one.
Neutralized SCPs are objects that have lost their anomalous properties. That can happen in several ways: the object is destroyed, it dies, or it vanishes from our plane of existence.
Destruction is often accidental, but not always. Some are destroyed on purpose, usually by organizations opposed to the Foundation, or through events beyond its control.
Neutralized SCPs are among the rarest on the wiki, and a few are very much worth reading. Here’s my short list of the best.

SCP-407 – The Song of Genesis by Pair Of Ducks
One of the most interesting entries from Series I. The song is a specific piece of music, and listening to it sets a range of things in motion. At first, it revitalizes you, but the longer it plays, the stranger and more dangerous its effects become. The descriptions of those effects are disturbing, and the interview that follows at the end makes this article so great.
SCP-2498 – The Rainbow Body by minmin
The Rainbow Body is among the most complex articles on the entire wiki, weaving together historical tie-ins, scientific detail, and philosophical arguments. I enjoyed it a lot, and many of its parts are outstanding, though it’s a bit too long. It’s also one of the most ambitious things on the wiki. For that alone, it’s worth reading.
SCP-2682 – The Blind Idiot by faminepulse
One of the few articles that genuinely succeed at depicting an alien entity, detailing what happens when it enters our universe. It’s strange and fascinating in equal measure. The writing is flawless, and both the description of the entity and the dialogue are outstanding. While The Blind Idiot might be among the strangest neutralized entities, it’s also among the best articles on the whole wiki.
SCP-3004 – Imago by kinchtheknifeblade
Cousin Johnny, SCP-2852, was never a favorite of mine. It’s mostly gore and body horror with little else to offer. Imago ties into it and is a vastly different and more complex piece, with a good deal of Christian framing. What sets it apart is the Lovecraftian entity in its latter half and the well-written ending.
SCP-3043 – Murphy Law in… Type 3043 — FOR MURDER! by The Great Hippo
Another format screw from The Great Hippo, one of the best writers on the wiki. This one isn’t written as a normal article, but as a noir thriller told in the first person. It’s a strange idea, but executed so well you can’t help but love it.
SCP-6140 – The True Empire by aismallard and stormbreath
The True Empire picks up where SCP-140 – An Incomplete Chronicle left off. The Daevite Empire is one of the wiki’s most popular creations and one of the most dangerous civilizations in history. This covers the events leading up to and following the Chronicle’s completion. Nothing more needs to be said, except that it’s among the very best neutralized SCPs, and a fitting one to close on.
