7 Best Creepypasta Narrators and Horror Story Channels

Creepypasta and horror narration have become a major part of online horror culture. For many listeners, these channels are how they first discover new stories, revisit old classics, or fall asleep to something unsettling in the background. Great creepypasta narrators can elevate a solid story through voice, pacing, atmosphere, and production.

This list is not meant as an objective ranking of every horror narrator online. Instead, these are the best creepypasta narrators I’ve listened to over the years, and the ones whose work has left the strongest impression.

I’ve also had the pleasure of working with several of the creators on this list, as many have narrated my own stories. As a writer, hearing your work brought to life by a talented narrator is a genuine thrill, and it has given me an even deeper appreciation for what it takes to produce strong horror narration.

That said, this isn’t simply an endorsement list. Every channel here stands out for its own reason, whether that is vocal delivery, immersive sound design, consistency, story selection, or the ability to create a memorable atmosphere.

There are also several horror narrators and channels with a strong reputation that I haven’t followed closely enough to rank fairly, but they’re worth checking out if you enjoy creepypasta and horror audio: Be. Busta, Corpse Husband, Dr. Creepen, Lazy Masquerade, Let’s Read, and Swampdweller.

If you want stories to read before listening, I also have lists of weird creepypasta, disturbing creepypasta, and obscure creepypasta hidden gems.

With that said, here are my favorite 7 creepypasta narrators.

7. MrCreepyPasta

MrCreepyPasta is one of the foundational names in YouTube horror narration, and for many listeners, he’s the gateway into creepypasta itself. He helped popularize the scene in the early 2010s through narrations of internet classics like Jeff the Killer, Smile Dog, and countless other stories that defined the era. His channel remains one of the most recognizable names in the space, with millions of subscribers and a huge back catalog.

What made him stand out was his energy. While many narrators favor slow, monotone delivery, MrCreepyPasta brought enthusiasm, character, and momentum. His voice is instantly recognizable, and he’s always had a strong sense of community that helped the wider creepypasta scene grow.

Personally, I think his pacing can be a little too fast at times, which occasionally undercuts slower, tension-based stories. Even so, his consistency, legacy, and sheer influence are impossible to ignore. If creepypasta narration has a founding father on YouTube, MrCreepyPasta is one of the clearest candidates.

6. Mr. Creeps

Mr. Creeps is one of the biggest modern creepypasta narrators on YouTube. His main channel focuses on creepypasta and scary stories, while his second channel, Mr. Creeps True Stories, is dedicated to narrating true scary stories.

What stands out most is his output. Mr. Creeps built his channel through consistency, volume, and a steady focus on newer internet horror rather than relying on the old classics. His voice is deep, recognizable, and well-suited for cryptids, wilderness horror, rules-based stories, and long-form supernatural setups.

He fills a similar role to MrCreepyPasta in terms of reliability and presence, but with a stronger emphasis on fresh stories and modern creepypasta trends. His catalog is enormous, and that work ethic alone makes him one of the genre’s major names.

5. Animas

Animas is one of the hidden gems of horror narration on YouTube. The channel may be smaller than some of the giants on this list, but the quality of his work easily earns him a place here.

What makes Animas stand out is the atmosphere. The pacing is patient, the delivery is strong, and the stories are often paired with eerie, haunting background music that gives everything a dense, lonely mood. Many narrations feel less like someone simply reading a story and more like being pulled into one.

Story selection also helps. Animas often chooses longer or more immersive tales that benefit from careful buildup, and the voice acting adds weight without becoming overdone. If you prefer mood-heavy horror narration over sheer volume, this is a channel well worth discovering.

4. Dusklight Radio

Dusklight Radio is one of the most polished horror narration channels I’ve come across. It’s run by horror author T. J. Lea, a good friend of mine, and that creative background shows in the channel’s identity and ambition. Rather than being just another narration channel, it’s framed as a fictional radio show set in his own Sturgeon Universe.

That gives Dusklight Radio a distinct personality. The presentation feels like a mix of Welcome to Night Vale, old dramatic radio plays, and modern creepypasta narration. Stories are supported by layered sound design, atmospheric music, multiple voices, and strong performances that make each upload feel more immersive than a standard recording.

Collaborations with narrators like The Dark Somnium and Viidith22 only strengthen the lineup. If you enjoy horror audio with real worldbuilding, theatrical flair, and consistently high production value, Dusklight Radio is one of the best hidden gems in the scene.

3. Jordan Grupe

Jordan Grupe is another channel run by one of my writer friends, and he’s since become the narrator I’ve worked with the most. Over the years, we’ve partnered on dozens of stories, two novellas, and my novel Fuck Monsters, so I know his work extremely well.

What makes Jordan stand out is that he’s not only a narrator but also a horror author. Like Dusklight Radio, he doesn’t simply read random creepypasta stories from around the internet. He also produces audio versions of his own works and his horror universe, Hollow’s End, giving his channel a stronger creative identity than many standard narration channels.

His voice is instantly recognizable, his output is consistent, and the overall quality is high. If you want a narrator who combines authorial experience, strong delivery, and a deep connection to the stories he reads, Jordan Grupe is absolutely worth checking out.

2. Viidith22

Viidith22 is one of the most distinctive voices in horror narration. While he covers a range of internet horror and creepypasta, he stands apart from many of his peers through a stronger focus on cosmic horror, dark science-fiction, and deep-space terror.

That niche suits him perfectly. His gritty, gravelly voice carries weight, making stories about hostile universes, ancient forces, doomed expeditions, and forbidden knowledge feel especially effective. When the subject matter leans toward existential dread rather than simple jump scares, he’s often in his element.

He still handles traditional creepypasta extremely well, but it’s that broader focus that makes him so memorable. If you enjoy horror that stares into the void, Viidith22 is one of the best narrators to follow.

1. The Dark Somnium

No one else could really take the top spot on a list of creepypasta narrators. The Dark Somnium is the gold standard for modern horror narration, not just because of his voice acting, but because of the full production around it.

His videos feel closer to cinematic audio dramas than simple readings. The sound design is excellent, the performances are polished, and the music is often custom-composed by him, rather than pulled from generic copyright-free libraries. That gives each story a stronger identity, since the score can match the tone, pacing, and emotional shape of the material.

That level of production naturally means fewer uploads than more schedule-driven channels. Depending on the length and complexity of a story, he may release one narration a week, or sometimes less often. But when a new Dark Somnium video drops, it usually feels like an event. For horror audio drama, he remains unmatched.
